Dryer Vent Installation

Q: I just purchased a new clothes dryer and I want the dryer to sit flush against the back wall of the laundry room, but it can’t because the dryer vent pipe is in the way. Is there anything I can do to get around this problem?

The proper installation of the dryer duct system is critical to the proper and efficient operation of the dryer. An improper installation of the dryer duct system can lead to higher energy bills, dryer damage and in the worst case a fire.

A: First and most important, you must follow the manufacturer’s instructions and rules for the dryer ducting.

There are duct adaptors that will allow you to push the dryer closer to the back wall. However, before you can do this, there are other considerations, including the length of the pipe.

I suggest you follow the link attached to this blog as it will provide you with the information necessary for a safe and efficient dryer duct installation.

Water On My Windows & Ceiling

Q: My windows are dripping with water and now I noticed that I have water droplets appearing on the ceiling in the corner of my living room.  What can I do to stop this?

A: The humidity level in your home is far to high. The forming of condensation is caused by the difference between outdoor temperatures and indoor temperatures and the amount of moisture in the air. When the humidity levels are high, you are creating a situation that will allow for the growth of mold and bacteria.

As the temperature outdoors drops, you must drop the humidity level in your home. High humidity levels can be caused by a number of things, the most common being humidifiers set to high, but other causes include clothes dryers and dishwashers.
