How To Build Your Own Kitchen Or Bathroom Cabinets On A Limited Budget - Floor To Ceiling Cabinets Part 3

For purposes of this example we have one wall, the left side, that requires a solid side wall and one wall that does not require a solid side wall, the right side.

If in your situation, the right side requires a wall then you would add a side support on the floor base on the right hand side in a similar manner to the left side of the floor to ceiling cabinet as shown in Figure 30.

Against the right hand wall, fasten a 1 X 2 to the wall, touching the floor of the floor to ceiling cabinet and extending to the height of your cabinet as shown in Figure 31.

The next step is to attach the solid side wall to the left hand side of the floor to ceiling cabinet as shown in Figure 32. Use wood screws and glue to fasten the wall to the side support member. Do not insert screws towards the front closer than the outside edge of the base cabinet floor or they will be visible after assembly.
