Concepts In ColorDeck

ONE BIG HAPPY (COLOR) FAMILY

Sherwin-Williams New Concepts in Color Palette

Makes Color Selection Easy for Do-It-Yourselfers

Shopping for a paint color can be like gazing at a rainbow — with a massive display of swatches in a vibrant array of hues. You often make a selection by trial-and-error, hoping that the color on the paint chip will coordinate and translate well at home.

The new Concepts in Color palette from Sherwin-Williams helps simplify the color selection process. The 250 high-demand shades are conveniently organized into 10 color families and displayed on larger paint chips, allowing do-it-yourselfers to easily find the right red, best blue or optimal orange. Sherwin-Williams also provides the inspiration and color resources for consumers to coordinate hues and incorporate the latest trends.

"It can be confusing, when picking a paint color, to envision what it’s going to look like in your room. Our new Concepts in Color palette helps eliminate the guesswork and gives you the confidence to select color," said Sheri Thompson, Sherwin-Williams director of color marketing and design.

Thinking outside the paint chip, each hue in the Concepts in Color palette is grouped with sibling shades and presented on a generously sized 3 x 5-inch take-home sample. The swatches feature a perforated "window" opening, so do-it-yourselfers can place their color choices over fabrics, wall coverings and flooring — as well as other hues to help in coordinating colors. Suggestions for complementary interior and exterior colors are noted on the back of each paint chip — helping homeowners create attractive color schemes throughout a room or their entire home — with or without the advice of a professional designer.

"By the time people are ready to select paint, they tend to know the general color they want, but finding the exact shade can be a challenge,” Thompson said. “With our new Concepts in Color palette, we make color selection easy and enjoyable by grouping colors together in families for the first time — enhancing the value and success of the DIY experience."

In all, Sherwin-Williams has added 25 shades each from the red, blue, green, yellow and orange families, plus 125 new neutrals and whites.

To inspire homeowners’ ideas and creativity, Sherwin-Williams also has created 30 Concepts in Color cards. Each card highlights four distinct room scenes to help consumers visualize how to use a particular color, be it as the main wall, accent or trim colors, or as a decorative accessory. "Our retail customers told us that they need to see the color on the wall to make it come alive for them. We’ve done just that with our Concepts in Color cards," Thompson said.

The Concepts in Color palette is available at Sherwin-Williams stores nationwide. Consumers can preview the collection by using the Sherwin-Williams online Color Visualizer at sherwin-williams.com. Or they can test their color choices with Sherwin-Williams Color To GoPaint Samples.
