LEGRAND/PASS & SEYMOUR MULTI-WAY CONVERTIBLE OCCUPANCY SENSOR COMBINES DIMMING AND SENSING
Legrand/Pass & Seymour, a leading provider of electrical wiring devices and home systems, introduces its Dimming Multi-way Convertible Occupancy Sensor. With preset dimming control, automatic lighting shutoff and optional automatic lighting activation, homeowners can maximize energy savings and enjoy the most pleasing light level for any task.
The Convertible Occupancy Sensor is ideal for bedrooms, living rooms, dining rooms and family rooms. It can replace a single- or multi-pole switch, or an incandescent dimmer. Users can control dimming and automatic shut-off from one or more locations.
The Sensor uses passive infrared (PIR) technology to distinguish between the energy from a person in motion and the background space. It keeps lighting on as long as motion is detected, and it shuts off according to an adjustable time delay ranging from 15 seconds to 30 minutes. Users can also turn the lighting off manually.
To activate the dimming function, homeowners can press and hold down the pushbutton. Lights fade up and down continuously until the pushbutton is released. The lighted switch also offers better visibility in darkened rooms and at night.
"The combination of dimming and sensing technology within the same wall switch offers unmatched convenience and energy-saving benefits," said Keith Falkenberg, product manager at Legrand/Pass & Seymour. "Homeowners have the flexibility to match the lighting level for any activity, and the efficiency of only using lights when they’re needed."
The Sensors come in white, black, almond, light almond and ivory.
LEGRAND/PASS & SEYMOUR INTRODUCES DUAL TECHNOLOGY WALL SWITCH SENSORS
Legrand/Pass & Seymour, a leading provider of electrical wiring devices and home systems, announces its powerful Dual Technology Wall Switch Sensors, designed to provide optimum energy management and control for a variety of commercial applications.
Ideal for small offices, executive suites, conference rooms and break rooms, the Sensors offer the choice of automatic ON or manual ON operation. The combination of passive infrared (PIR) and ultrasonic technologies provides high sensitivity to small and large movements along with wide, dense detection. PIR technology detects infrared energy from a human body in motion, while the ultrasonic technology spreads coverage over a wider area and picks up smaller movements to time the ON/OFF function more efficiently.
"At a time when energy management is a top priority, the Dual Technology Wall Switch Sensors allow businesses to control lighting costs with tremendous consistency and accuracy," said Keith Falkenberg, product manager at Legrand/Pass & Seymour.
Three control options can set the ON/OFF time delay once occupancy is detected. A self-adaptive option adjusts time delays based on usage patterns, assigning delays as brief as seven minutes when space is typically vacant and up to 30 minutes for busier times. It even differentiates electrical noise from human motion. The fixed option provides 5-, 15- or 30-minute delays, while walk-through mode turns lights off three minutes after a room is initially occupied if no further motion is detected after 30 seconds. Finally, test mode allows quick and easy adjustments.
The compact product design fits into existing boxes for fast, easy installation, and a bi-level model provides control of two independent lighting loads from the same box. The Sensors come in white, black, light almond, ivory and gray.
LEGRAND/PASS & SEYMOUR INTRODUCES THE SELECTIVE CALL SYSTEM
Inspired by color and design trends from around the world, the Selective Call System seamlessly blends technology with design. Its sculptural curves, featuring titanium edging and a screwless finish, allow homeowners to integrate technology with personal style and taste.
Enabling broadcast or room-to-room communication at the touch of a button, Selective Call can accommodate up to 32 locations and three simultaneous, private conversations — the only intercom in the industry to do so. It eliminates the need for a main console, allowing complete system control from any room unit.
Users can choose from 96 room names, such as “nursery” or “great room,” and up to 20 built-in digital door tones. The easy-to-use interface ensures complete system personalization and lists room names according to the most frequently called locations.
Selective Call’s installation is simple and efficient. Just run a single Cat 5 cable from the enclosure to each Selective Call unit, and plug it into an RJ45 connection.
TAMPER-RESISTANT RECEPTACLE COMBINATION DEVICES OFFER THE MOST SOLUTIONS TO PROTECT KIDS
Legrand/Pass & Seymour, a leading manufacturer of electrical wiring devices and home systems, announces the most complete line of Tamper-Resistant Receptacle Combination devices to protect young children from electrical hazards. Meeting 2008 National Electrical Code(r) (NEC) tamper-resistant requirements, the combination devices expand what is already a broad offering of Tamper-Resistant Receptacles for residential and commercial applications.
A Tamper-Resistant Receptacle works like any electrical outlet, except it has a built-in shutter system that prevents children from inserting metal objects into the slots. The shutters obstruct objects from touching electrically live components, but plugs can be inserted and removed as usual.
The Tamper-Resistant Combination devices join a family of products that offer solutions for every home location and purpose, to allow for more functionality in an existing electrical box without breaking sheet rock. A full range of models combine receptacles with switches and LED nightlights. GFCI receptacles are also available in these combinations. The devices come in 15A and 20A versions.
"The Tamper-Resistant combination devices are designed to give users multiple functions in a single product solution," said Tom Roy, residential product manager at Legrand/Pass & Seymour. "By offering the broadest range of Tamper-Resistant products on the market, we've combined proven safety technology with optimal convenience."
Over 30 states and municipalities have adopted the new Tamper-Resistant Code requirements, and more are be expected to adopt them by the end of 2009.
RESIDENTIAL WALL BOX SENSORS NAMED AMONG 100 BEST NEW PRODUCTS
Legrand/Pass & Seymour, a leading provider of electrical wiring devices and home systems, has been recognized by Professional Builder magazine for producing one of the 100 Best New Products for 2009, an award which recognizes the most significant products introduced each year. The Residential Wall Box Sensors, vacancy- and occupancy-based lighting controls, earned this distinction.
Editors based their choices on technological advancement, significant product improvement, new product line introduction and increasing the competition of a product line.
The Residential Wall Box Sensors conserve energy and are ideal for stairways, hallways, large spaces, garages and bathrooms. They feature fixed time delays, eliminating the need for end-user adjustments. Those who desire more flexibility can benefit from user-adjustable time delay and ambient light sensing in a 3-way compatible model. All models have 180-degree, 600-square-foot coverage and an LED indicator light provides visibility in darkened rooms.
"The wall box sensors represent just one solution that helps people contribute to a greener environment through the use of energy-efficient lighting controls," said Keith Falkenberg, lighting controls product manager at Legrand/Pass & Seymour. "With the endless variety of products introduced each year, having the editors rank one of ours among the 100 best is a great honor."
