Problem: Floor with acoustic ceiling not providing enough noise reduction from storey above.
Cause: No effective sound barrier in ceiling
Solutions:
- Remove the acoustic ceiling. Install sound-absorbing fibrous insulation to three-quarters the depth of the cavity, and apply drywall on resilient metal furring. Re-install the acoustic ceiling if desired to reduce the echo in the room as shown in Figures 11a and 11b.
