Make sure the windows in your kitchen aren't covered by anything to ensure the sunlight permeates the room and perhaps add some spotlights to the ceiling, so you know it'll still be bright even at night. Using wood and grey will give the space a really rustic feel, which will make it seem like a traditional design, but with a contemporary twist.
