13 Homemade Cleaning Solutions

Cleaning our homes, inside and out is important to most people. We want our kitchens to shine and our floors to glow, but more importantly we want our homes to be bacteria, mold and mildew free – or as close as we can possible get them.

In order to make and market cleaning products, manufacturers take basic chemicals, package them in fancy containers, spend a small fortune on advertising and then charge us a lot of money for very little. The manufacturers of cleaning products are some of the most profitable companies in the world.

You can make excellent cleaning products in your home and save your hard earned money.

Note: We do not give specific quantities of chemicals to use to make the specific cleaning products. What we do is deal in parts. A part can be any measurement you want it to be. It can be an ounce, a teaspoon, a quart, gallon or any other unit. The key is that for any cleaning solution the units must be the same.

As an example, if the specific cleaning solution that we describe needs 10 parts water, 5 parts soda, 3 parts vinegar you can easily translate that to any unit of measurement. If you were dealing with ounces you would have 10 ounces of water, 5 ounces of soda and 3 ounces of vinegar. If you wanted to deal in cups, you would have 10 cups of water, 5 cups of soda 3 cups of vinegar. In fact, you don’t even need to know the actual units as long as you use the same measuring device. If you have a glass jar you could make the cleaning solution using 10 glass jars of water, 5 glass jars of soda and 3 glass jars of vinegar.

By working in parts you can conveniently make as much or as little of each cleaning solution that you want at any time.

Note: Most of the chemicals required are available at major supermarkets and big box retailers. Do not pay for expensive packaging and or brand names.
