Windows and Doors

Introduction

Windows and doors are two of the most vulnerable elements of the wall system. Not only do they represent the only "moving parts" of the system, but they are subjected to greater temperature differentials than other elements of the wall assembly.

Manufacturers claim that as many as 50 percent of all callbacks relating to windows and doors in new housing could be avoided through better installation practices. This section of the guide identifies the causes and solutions to problems typically witnessed in new housing.
